Cultural Advisor

- Can you Supports the Chief Executive Officer, executive leadership team and staff to increase cultural competency across the organisation ?
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the role is responsible for providing high-level strategic advice on improving Council’s provision of cultural expertise and support to staff, contributes to the development of our First Nations workforce, and ensures cultural safety within Council’s service delivery.
This executive leadership level position that promotes and enhances Council’s knowledge and awareness on areas of cultural importance and understanding. The Cultural Advisor plays a key stakeholder relationship role with council service delivery and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan and improving service access for First Nations people.

Central Desert Regional Council is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. The Council provides a range of services in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. There are also several homelands and outstations. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population is Aboriginal.
