Expression of Interest – Youth and Communities School Holiday Programs

Keen to make a big impact in remote communities, whilst sojourning to the spectacular Central Desert Region?

Don’t miss this opportunity to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). CDRC is seeking individuals and service providers wishing to be considered for supporting Youth & Community programs, for peak periods such as school holiday programs.

This is a chance to return to remote Central Australia, or experience life in communities for the first time, and to pass on skills to youth in remote communities in Central Australia.

The Program

CDRC’s Youth and Communities department delivers various comprehensive Youth, Sport and Recreation programs, and Community Safety Patrol service delivery programs. The Central Desert region is home to four language groups, across nine remote Indigenous communities spanning across a vast geographical area from Alice Springs to Lajamanu, north to Ti Tree and east to Atitjere.

We are seeking individuals with

  • A passion for working with young people
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context (highly desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to cultural respect and sensitivity
  • Experience in relevant fields such as youth work, sport, recreation, arts, or cultural activities (desirable)
  • Valid Working with Children Check (Ochre Card) and First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Manual driver's licence
  • Proven experience in best practice service delivery in Central Australia is highly regarded (or willingness to learn).

  • 8 – 15 April 2024
  • 21 June - 15 July 2024
  • 20 September – 7 October 2024
  • 13 December 2024 – 28 January 2025

Contract

Individual contracts or service agreements may be offered in response to Youth and Community service delivery needs, such as peak periods across School Holidays.

Casual employment with CDRC has the potential to be ongoing.

Location

Work will be based in the nine communities across the Central Desert Region, with specific locations confirmed upon successful expression of interest.
