Animal Management By-laws

Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is pleased to present as its first By-Law for public comment; the Animal Management By-Laws.

President Adrian Dixon says “The Animal Management by-law is all about promoting responsible dog ownership and keeping community members safe.  The Council recently adopted an Animal Management Plan which sets out what the Council will be working to achieve. The Council is asking community members and interested parties to provide comment on the draft by-law.  Feedback will help us make our by-law strong and workable.”

Karen Lightowler the Council's Animal Management Coordinator has been working to implement plans to maintain and improve the health and safety of our communities in regards to animals.  Through research, training, community requests and expertise Karen has devised an Animal Management Plan incorporating Animal Management By-Laws to create a healthier and safer environment for all.

The draft by-law and information sheet is available from the Council's website and is also available at all council offices for public consultation. If you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions please let the council office know and include your name, house number, and telephone number so our officers can contact you if need be.

The submission period closes on 18 March 2014 at close of business.
