CDRC Finalist in AANT Road Safety Award

Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) was a finalist for the AANT Road Safety Award, part of the 2021 Northern Territory Community Achievement Awards.

Congratulations to Nishantha Perera, Regional Manager Roads and Capital Projects, who received a certificate at the NT Community Achievement Awards ceremony on 22 October. He has the certificate proudly displayed in his office.

This comes as the Willowra road upgrade works (from 18 to 23Km) was completed on 20 September. A third party consultant has inspected the final works and confirmed it has been completed as per the planned quality, specification and scope.

CDRC manages 1800kms of road network spread in central Australia. They have introduced a uniform traffic management manual for all communities and specific traffic signage plans/layouts for internal communities and main link roads. They have established in-house road maintenance crew that is mostly local Indigenous. As a result, the last five-year crash data found no major issues reported in the council region.
