Staff Orientation Trip to Darwin Libraries

Three staff from Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) travelled to Darwin as part of a library orientation excursion on Wednesday 11 December, to bring back knowledge to the CDRC libraries in Ti Tree and Lajamanu.

The staff, Catherine McKissock, Children’s Services Facilitator; Claire Alimboyong, Senior Administration Officer Works; and Michael Erglis, Senior Administration Lajamanu, took part in the training experience. It was facilitated by Maeva Masterson, Assistant Director at Library and Archives NT, who took the three staff on a tour of some of Darwin’s libraries: Darwin City, Palmerston, Karama and Casuarina. There they were able to talk to the librarians and gain an insight into how different libraries were catering for their different audiences.

“It was good to put the names to faces of the people we have been talking to and to get the information that we need directly from the people on the ground up here,” said Catherine. “It was very informative,” she added.

CDRC Ti Tree library is open now, and the Lajamanu library will open in the new year.
