On 4 September, the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) Willowra Works team began construction on the Granites Mines Affected Areas Aboriginal Corporation (GMAAAC) funded West Side Park in Willowra, a community located 340km north-west of Alice Springs.
The construction includes shade shelters and seating for over 30 people.
“These parks will increase the liveability of the community, which aligns with goal three of our Regional Plan,” said CDRC President, Adrian Dixon. “They will provide an outside meeting place to make important decisions on the direction we want our communities to go,” he said.
This is the second of three parks being constructed and is scheduled to be finished in January 2020.
