Delegations Register
The Local Government Act (2019) and NT General Regulations (2019) provide that the CEO is responsible to the Council to ensure that proper standards of financial management are maintained including ensuring that proper controls are established over financial and other records. Central Desert Regional Council has clear and easy to understand Delegations Register to ensure processes and accountability for administrative functions and levels of decision making across Council. Council also has delegated authority to its committees identified in the respective terms of reference for the committees (click to view Committees page) and to Local Authorities as outlined in Guideline 1 – Local Authorities.
Staff employed by Central Desert Regional Council are aware of their delegation limits and ensure that there is no actual or perceived conflict of interest between their personal interests and the impartial fulfilment or their professional duties.
Business with Council
Central Desert Regional Council actively supports economic development across the region and aims to supports local business and business opportunities. This approach is supported by strong governance arrangements as per the Local Government Act.

Council seeks to ensure best value for money procurement and transparent processes. Therefore, the Council has introduced an electronic procurement process.
Electronic Procurement
Council tenders, quotes and expressions of interest are advertised in the Public Notices of the Classifieds section in The NT News or The Centralian Today at the commencement of a tender period. A summary of open tenders may be viewed below.
Suppliers must be registered on the Central Desert Regional Council’s E-Procurement Portal to be eligible to tender. Any canvassing of elected members or Council staff in relation to tenders shall result in the proposals being automatically disqualified. Council reserves the right to accept or reject any tender.
