Central Desert Regional Council recently organised the first ever NT Local Government Municipal Services Conference, held in Alice Springs on 7 - 8 October, 2015.
Attended by 45 participants from across the Territory, delegates shared information on Council municipal service provision and staff management.
Director of Works & Infrastructure - Glenn Marshall said "Councils across the NT have learnt and implemented much since 2008; it was time to share those learnings with each other".
The two days were a great success, including two field trips to Titjikala community and the Alice Springs town pool (solar heated) and presentations on Animal Management By-Laws, fleet management, road upgrades, cyclone clean-ups, Local Authority engagement, sacred sites clearances, traffic management, outstations funding, asbestos and more.
With only two weeks to go to the start of the Central Desert Regional Council Women's Basketball Competition, teams in each of the Council's communities are gearing up for another hot round of competition.
The first round of games on Saturday 31st October will see Yuendumu up against Nyirripi, Lajamanu A vs Lajamanu B, Pmara Jtunta vs Willowra, Atitjere vs Engawala and Laramba vs Yuelamu.
The CDRC Regional Finals on the weekend of the 5th and 6th December with the winners of this competition qualifying to attend and play in the Basketball NT Championships held in Alice Springs on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of December.
The team that qualifies will be fully supported to travel and compete by the CDRC. Good luck!
