At the June 5th meeting Councillor Norbert Patrick (Northern Tanami Ward) was elected as the Council's Deputy President for a second term of one year.

Cr Patrick has been a Councillor since the Council's formation in 2009 and has served as both President and Deputy President previously.  

Cr Patrick thanked the Councillors for their support and promised to work with Councillors and staff to ensure that the Council continues to build on its strong relationships within the community and deliver on its service obligations.

A safe and fun weekend for everyone!  That’s the main aim of the Central Desert Regional Council as it gears up to help keep the town safe before and after the Port Adelaide versus Melbourne AFL game this weekend.

The Central Desert Regional Council will bring in three Night Patrol Crews from Yuendumu, Ti Tree and Harts Range to assist Police and Tangentyere Council with their community safety operations.

Central Desert CEO Cathryn Hutton said that the Night Patrol crews will help get people off the streets, return visitors to their accommodation and provide early intervention to help reduce trouble. “There’ll be plenty of excited people from the Central Desert region travelling into Alice for the big game.  It’s a great event and we want to make sure that visitors behave and everyone enjoys themselves.”  Ms Hutton said.

Central Desert Night Patrol Crews will arrive on Thursday afternoon and remain in Alice Springs until Monday.  They will be coordinated by Police and Tangentyere Council Night Patrol Program.

Central Desert Regional Council President Adrian Dixon says that helping the Alice Springs community is part of being a good neighbour.  “The Council sends our crews into Alice Springs regularly for special events.  When they’re here they do a really good job helping police keep the peace”.  Mr Dixon said
