The Local Authorities (LA) in seven of the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) communities purchased either one or two 2000 litre water trailers to use at sporting events, sorry camps and other temporary events where drinking water is needed.
Yuendumu and Lajamanu bought two each and Atitjere, Yuelamu, Nyirripi, Laramba and Engawala bought one each.
All of the trailers have now arrived at their respective communities and some of them will soon be put to the test.

Community members from Laramba travelled to Alice Springs to represent Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) in a Central Australian slow pitch softball competition on 12 and 13 September 2020.
The annual Softball NT championships that were to be held in Alice Springs this year were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, so Softball NT held this competition instead. Slow pitch is played as a more social game and varies from the usual fast pitch game, as it requires the pitch to arc between 1.8 and 3.6 metres off the ground at its highest point and is usually played with ten players.
CDRC had eleven players compete in total, and the team had a great first day, winning two out of the three games played on Saturday. They played in the first final on Sunday morning, however were not successful in progressing to the next finals stage. There were some huge batting hits, and the team work when fielding was outstanding.
It was a warm weekend, full of fun and friendly matches between all teams. Everyone is looking forward to the Softball NT championships in 2021, which are set to be held in Alice Springs again.
