NAIDOC Week is from 5-12 July this year, and Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) are celebrating with a flag raising ceremony in each community at the Council office on Tuesday 7 July. It starts at 10am in each community except Yuendumu where it starts at 12pm.
Don't forget that Monday 6 July is a day off for all CDRC staff.
Today’s mail plane to Atitjere contained thirty individual packages of mail, about one third of the total load capacity of the aircraft for one of five delivery points. This broke the previous record of twenty-eight, and even still there are another eight or so packages that could not be squeezed into the plane! They are still in Alice Springs waiting to be delivered.
It’s going to be a busy day in the Atitjere Post Agency! There has been a steady increase in parcel post to Atitjere since the beginning of the lockdown and parcels make up around eighty percent of the incoming mail. With the lockdown easing from today, this new record might not be broken for quite a while.
