Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is a local government authority covering an area over 282,000 Sq. kilometres. CDRC builds sustainable communities through traditional local government services such as waste management, road repair and upgrades, and community services (Community Safety, Children’s Services; Youth, Sport and Recreation, Aged Care) in 12 communities to the North of Alice Springs: Lajamanu, Ti Tree, Wilora, Nturiya, Pmara Jutunta, Willowra, Laramba, Nyirripi, Yuelamu, Atitjere, Engawala and Yuendumu. The Central Desert area is considered remote and disadvantaged and over 80% of the population is Aboriginal.


The Role


In this unique role, you'll develop and implement strategic animal health programs while working collaboratively with communities to promote responsible pet ownership and deliver measurable health and safety outcomes. 


Key Responsibilities



  • Coordinate regional animal management programs, including veterinary visits.

  • Promote responsible pet ownership through community education and engagement.

  • Monitor and report on companion animal health and demographics.

  • Work collaboratively with council staff, schools, and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant animal management legislation.


About You


To succeed in this role, you’ll need:



  • Experience in companion animal management, especially in remote communities.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • A collaborative approach to working in culturally diverse environments.

  • A valid manual driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote areas.
