To celebrate this day, Edna Snape, long term Aged Care worker in Anmatjere and Engawala, and now Team Leader Wilora Aged Care, has given her views on the day.
What challenges have you faced in your career as a woman? How did you overcome them?
The challenges I faced in the workforce is when you pursue your career and goals, things can pull you in different directions and you are always asking the question. To overcome them I stay positive and keep motivated.
Which mentors or role models have positively impacted you in your career?
My Husband and family.
How have you managed to balance your career and personal life?
Draw a line between home and work have some time for myself, and try to take care of my health.
What advice would you give to your 20-year old self?
Be Yourself.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
I am proud to be an Aboriginal Women and to acknowledge and be proud of all women around the world who contribute each day to society.
