On 12 July, a fun time was had at Ti Tree to celebrate NAIDOC Week. It was held in Carter-Haines Park with face painting and a barbecue.

Atitjere

On 11 July, a fun day was had at Atitjere, with a tug of war, bush medicine display and a beautiful NAIDOC cake. “There was good food, games and prizes for winners,” said Dennis Braun, Council Services Coordinator, Atitjere.

Engawala

NAIDOC Celebrations at Engawala on 10 July included an artwork competition and a community lunch with a NAIDOC cake. The lunch was held on the grounds of the CDRC Office in Engawala, and over 30 people attended. Local staff and community members cooked and prepared food and served to those attending.

Lajamanu

On 24 July Lajamanu celebrated NAIDOC Week with a barbecue and kangaroo tails cooked on the fire. It was originally planned for 10 July but was delayed due to Sorry Business.

Laramba

On 11 July, all the CDRC departments came together to create a lunch to celebrate NAIDOC Week. “It was a great event,” said Wayne Porter, Aged Care Coordinator Laramba.

Nyirripi

Nyirripi put on a barbecue to celebrate NAIDOC Week on 12 July. It was a small crowd, but the food was enjoyed by all.

Willowra

A NAIDOC celebratory barbecue was held in Willowra on 12 July.

“Big thanks to everyone and an extra big thanks to Eilleen from the Learning Centre (Batchelor) for her support today!” said Jenny Pietsch, Senior Coordinator CDP Engagement, CDP.

Yuelamu

On Friday 26 July Yuelamu held a celebration for NAIDOC Week. It was going to be during NAIDOC Week but had to be delayed due to Sorry Business. A barbecue was enjoyed by the community at the Yuelamu recreation hall.

Yuendumu

On 12 July Yuendumu celebrated NAIDOC Week with a burgers and arts afternoon. “There was space for painting and drawing. We enjoyed chicken and beef burgers and a big cake! It was a perfect wind up to the week’s celebrations in Yuendumu,” said Brooke Flynn, Senior Administration Council Services, Yuendumu.
