The Laramba Young Roos were the big winners, taking home the top prize in both AFL and softball! It was a very close finish for both games. The AFL match was decided by only 9 points, with Laramba winning 38 to Yuendumu’s 29. The softball game was even closer! Laramba won by just 2 runs, scoring 12 to Yuendumu’s 10.

The Laramba team showed amazing teamwork and sportsmanship. They also have really cool uniforms and hoodies, designed by their own school students! These are a reward for good attendance at school.

Daniel Shane, Regional Manager, Youth and Community Services, said, “It was fantastic to see families getting involved and supporting their young people, and great teamwork and healthy competition.”

“We look forward to building upon this pilot program to facilitate regular, structured intercommunity sports for Central Desert communities.”

Thanks to partners AFLNT, funders NT Government and NIAA, and a special mention to Laramba School for the remarkable support of their young people and families.
