To define and promote a high standard of CEO behavior that can be expected by elected members, staff, residents and the wider public.
This policy applies to the CEO.
CEO: Chief Executive Officer or their delegate.

The CEO will enact and uphold the Central Desert Regional Council values of Strong Leadership, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity and Respect. The CEO will abide by the Code of Conduct for Employees.
Additional Matters:
The CEO must act with integrity, impartiality and equality and make decisions that they genuinely believe to be the best interests of council. The CEO will be a good representative for the Council and foster and protect its good reputation.
The CEO will provide accurate, frank and impartial advice to Council.
The CEO has an obligation to perform their duties in a consistent manner with reasonable care and diligence in accordance with Council delegation and within established law, Council policies and procedures.
The CEO must act to create a fair, respectful, inclusive and safe environment where diversity is respected, valued and represented in what is said and done.
The CEO must avoid conflicts of interest between their private interests and official duties. Where a real or apparent conflict exists, the CEO must comply with their obligation of disclosure.
The CEO will respect the confidentiality of information obtained in their official capacity. The CEO will not make improper use of confidential information obtained in an official capacity to gain a private benefit or to cause harm to another.
Outside employment for the CEO is not allowed, except in exceptional circumstances and approved by Council in writing (by resolution). The Council will only give approval if the outside employment:
Breaching the Code of Conduct is seen as serious misconduct. If the CEO breaches the Code of Conduct, this will be dealt with under Council policy and their employment contract.
