The day’s origins date back to 1908 when 15,000 women marched the streets of New York, demanding shorter hours, better pay and working conditions, as well as voting rights.
Today it marks an important time for feminists, women’s rights activists and grassroots movements across the world to join voices and advocate for a more just and gender equal world.
