On 22 June 2023 over 200 Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) staff members gathered in Alice Springs for the first CDRC Staff Forum.
The Staff Forum, which was the first for CDRC, was themed "Weaving Knowledge, Connecting Hearts" and was a huge success. The theme reflects the Council’s goal of bringing together employees from different departments and levels to share their knowledge and experiences, as well as hear from relevant external speakers.
Because NAIDOC Week falls in the school holidays, Mt Allan School in Yuelamu decided to have their NAIDOC celebrations early. On 21 June, Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) CEO Leslie Manda was on hand to give out gifts to some of the elders of the community, to help celebrate the theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week; ‘For Our Elders’.
Today is National Sorry Day, a special day when we remember and reflect on the hurt caused in the past and how we can make things right. It's about acknowledging the tough times when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were taken away from their families, which we call the Stolen Generations.
